Roses are Red

What's in a bouquet? When it comes down to what flowers to choose for your bouquet it can be a very hard decision. There are so many fabulous choices!

We think sprigs of lavendar is a sweet alternative to tradtional bouquets ... or olive branches mixed with contorted willow makes for a unique bouquet. We admit however that it can be hard to go past a beautiful bouquet of peonies (if you're fortunate enough to be wed in the season) or of course David Austen roses, ranunculus and the list goes on ....

Amy Osaba Event. Floral. Design. puts together some amazing flowers! Her style is often a twist on the traditional and a whole lot of fun! You can tell she truly loves the creative process and the results are amazing! Sadly for us Amy is based in the States, so whilst we may not be able to employ her creative genius, we can still have fun looking at her creations and take inspiration. Here are a few ....

New York Wedding

We think it would be fair to say that we're just a tad in love with JP and Kris Ann's wedding shot by the very talented Jessica Claire. What's not to like about this wedding? The wedding took place in Saratoga Springs, New York and everything was so beautifully designed, decorated and put together. I think you would all agree!! Bride + Groom hire and sell a variety of white and black ornate birdcages, all very sweet. We've found that some of the smaller cages are a perfect modern twist on 'wishing wells' - functional and decorative at the same time! We're also noticing a popular trend to use birdcages as centrepieces and thought we'd post a few photos for inspiration!

Matilda Bay Wedding

A palette of snowy white and soft greens provided a beautiful backdrop for Catriona and Josh's wedding. Married earlier this year at Matilda Bay, the gorgeous couple put enormous thought and effort into their wedding day which reflects in the room set-up and decor.

Let's just say we like a good dessert bar at weddings .... ok we love a good dessert bar at weddings!! Which is why we are avid follower of Amy Atlas's Sweet Design Blog. So many good ideas, so creative & so much fun!

Having had our own experience devising candy bars we know how important it is to devise a concept for the bar and follow it through - be it a colour concept ... say pink & white (think marshmallows, muststicks & meringues) or perhaps a particular theme - say carnival - caramel popcorn, fairy floss & icecream cones. Yum! Whatever it may be, enjoy the reasearching - we think it is imperative to taste along the way!!!

Amy Atlas created a fantastic candy bar for Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine 15th Anniversary late last year, which we thought we'd share with you.

We've collected images from recent weddings who have hired our Tiffany Chairs & Mason Jars (the jars are such an effective way of dressing a table & our wired jars look so lovely hanging in trees). We also love the look of our White Eyelet Paper Lanterns suspended at all different heights - great indoors and out!

Bridesmaid Style File

It can be a very hard decision what colour to choose for bridesmaid (b.m) dresses! The dresses we stock have such great colour palettes to choose from, that it can at times, be a bit overwhelming! However it is important to go for a style & colour that not only you love but that your b.m's love and feel good in too.

Popular colour trends at the moment are soft pastels of mint, pale pink and whisper blue moving into the slightly darker pink hues of cameo, quail and dusty pink. Perfect accompaniment to summer wedding bouquets of peonies, David Austen roses and ranunculus.

Winter Wedding

Shanelle and Martin's wedding was a beautiful winter celebration! Married in June this year, the historic venue of Briars in Bowral NSW proved the perfect place to host an intimate and romatic wedding.

Dressed in Harvey & Ella, Shanelle looked absolutely gorgeous and was a delight to deal with! Shanelle ordered her dress through Bride + Groom and chose Sophia in Natural Silk Georgette. You may recognise the design of the dress, which Shanelle personalised, electing to go from a one shoulder design to having straps on either side.

Harvey & Ella Dresses: Real Wedding

We always love sharing real weddings with you, this time it's one featuring bridesmaids wearing Harvey & Ella. We haven't posted many photos of Harvey & Ella and I have managed to get my hands on a couple of beautiful weddings to share with you. The first wedding I'm posting is Melissa and Nick's who were married at Nick's family home in Brighton, with the reception at Middle Brighton Baths, Victoria. Melissa wore a gorgeous gown by Mariana Hardwick and the bridesmaids were of course in Harvey & Ella!

101 Ways to use Mason Jars!

We love using Mason Jars in our table settings, they are so in keeping with those wanting a beautiful rustic wedding. You can fill them with candles or posies of flowers and finish them of with ribbon and lace. Or why not use them as photo frames showcasing images of loved ones.... you could even go so far as to use them as chandeliers!! There are so many uses for them on or off the table and we confess to stockpiling a number of photos which show off just how versatile these jars are!

York Bridal Expo

For those of you looking for something a little different you might like to head up to the York Bridal Expo on Sunday 20 June 2010 (10am - 4pm).

The picturesque town of York in the heart of the Avon Valley, is a little over an hours drive from Perth. It is proving an increasingly popular choice for those looking to get married in an idealic country setting without having to ask their guests to travel long distances.

The Bridal Expo is a chance for people to come up and see what York has to offer and if they so choose, the ability to plan their wedding on the spot! Entry to the Expo is free with the starting point at the Town Hall to collect a map and bridal bag. A free bus has been organised to show you the sights of York, including the beautiful churches and venues.

Sandra Paskett, owner of the very gorgeous Laurelville Manor asked Bride + Groom to be part of the Bridal Expo, which sees us providing our Tiffany Chairs, dresses, headpieces and a number of other gorgeous bits and pieces. Laurelville has only recently opened its doors to weddings and the response I'm sure will be overwhelming! This stately Edwardian two storey residence, features wide bullnosed verandahs, high ornate ceilings, open fireplaces and beautiful timber floors. The three acre property surrounding Laurelville means you can search out the perfect spot for a ceremony or there is plenty of space for an outdoor marquee reception.

If you are still searching for that perfect spot to get married then we think the York Bridal Expo is well worth a visit & we look forward to seeing you there!

Ava Madison Real Wedding

If you're anything like us, then you love looking at photos from real weddings! We love looking at all the details, including what the bride wore, the venue, the decorations and all those little touches that go into making the day.

We particularly adore weddings that feature our bridesmaid dresses! We were delighted when Ava Madison forwarded us a few photos from a wedding that show the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride in their gorgeous dresses. We love putting them up for you to see, as it's always nice to see what people are wearing and the colours they go for. The bridesmaids opted to go for Paris in Marble with Chiffon detailing and the Mother of the Bride is wearing Sienna in Pewter.

Natalie and Michelle from Ava Madison have designed a number of gorgeous ready to wear dresses and we hope to have a sample of Paris and Sienna in our store very soon. In the meantime we have four other styles from Ava Madison that are equally as lovely!

Our Tiffany Chairs featured in another beautiful wedding on the weekend at The Red Herring, East Fremantle. The bride elected for the black chairs for the bridal table and white chairs for the guest tables. The overall effect was stunning, with gorgeous hydrangeas on each table and silver candelabras supplied by Touched By Angels.

Chair Hire Perth

We decided recently that our beautiful Tiffany Chairs deserved a website in their own right! We will still retain information on our Bride + Groom website, however we've devised another website Chair Hire Perth to have as well!

The new website, retains much of the same feel as the Chair Site on Bride + Groom, however we now have our Gallery Page up and running so you can see some of the weddings & functions that we've had the chairs at over the past six months. We'll endeavour to add more photos to this regularly so if you hire our Tiffany chairs please do send us a photo!

The photo below was taken at a beautiful wedding held in Margaret River late last year. Due to the interest in the Tiffany chairs in the Margaret River Region, we now keep some of our chairs permanently down there.

I (Tilopa) can't resist posting a few images from Paper + Lace's Blog of Maria and Daniel's wedding. The star of these photos is the handsome ring bearer getting ready for his impending duties. In one of the images he's clutching a can of soft drink (special treat for a special day!), the other he's getting suited up. The juxtaposition of the top image with the collection of wedding photos is so lovely as it gives you a glimpse into the family, knowing that one day these images may well adorn that mantelpiece!

We love researching and designing vintage inspired headpieces + veils. There are so many gorgeous choices for brides, you can go for a Birdcage Veil, a Visor Veil, a Mantilla Veil or you may decide to forgo the veil and go for a really beautiful jewelled headband or cute vintage lace frame.

We're very fortunate to have a very talented local milliner that makes all of our pieces for us which means we have the flexibility to design pieces that are unique to you! We've had the delight of working with a number of brides and the results have been just gorgeous. Kasey was one of our brides who recently worked with our milliner to come up with a headpiece and veil for her wedding. An Outdoor Wedding

We love looking through blogs and seeing all of the different ideas for styling your wedding. The possibilities are infinite.. should you go indoor vs outdoor? casual vs formal? winter vs summer? We stumbled across a few images from One Love Photo which we thought were pretty gorgeous for those thinking of having an outdoor wedding at a winery. We're spoilt for choice in WA with so many beautiful venues in the Margaret River Region and further south west to Denmark and surrounds. For those not wanting to stray to far away from Perth, the Swan Valley has so many fantastic wineries and perfect ceremony/reception options.

We think the cut out love hearts in one of the photos are a v. cute touch - so effective and so easy to make, and of course we had to include at least one photo featuring our beloved Tiffany Chair (but of course!). The final photo we chose is of the bride + groom holding glass jars for illumination. We hire out glass jars just like these which are so gorgeous if you're thinking of an outdoor rustic wedding. We have even wired a few of our jars so that they can be hung from trees to illuminate outdoor venues. So pretty, we love them!

B+G Closed for Dusk Bridal Fair

Bride + Groom will be closed Friday (tomorrow!!) and Saturday of this week as we'll be at the Dusk Bridal Fair. We're closing from Friday as we need time to set up and get everything looking beautiful!

The Fair takes place this Saturday + Sunday, the 6 & 7 March 2010 at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and it will be a great opportunity to come and meet a number of different wedding businesses. We'll be in booth 78A, so if your planning on coming to the Fair please make sure that you come and see us!

Room with a view

Fraser's Restaurant in Kings Park is a beautiful venue to host your wedding reception. The observation deck has gorgeous white draped ceilings complete with chandeliers and the view out to the Perth skyline is quite magical.

We were delighted when Touched By Angels asked us to provide our White Tiffany Chairs to a wedding they were styling at Fraser's. They were lovely enough to take a few pictures of the set up for us so that we could catch a glimpse of how beautiful it looked all put together.

Not so little black dress

There are an inordinate amount of beautiful wedding dresses that we've seen, however none captured our attention quite as much as this beautiful Vera Wang dress stocked in b. Hughes Bridal. This fashion shoot arranged by Once Wed and shot by the talented Jose Villa, features a stunning black wedding dress. We are in love with this black dress and if anything could influence you to stray away from the traditions of ivory and white we think this could be the number!

In stark contrast to the hot weather we've been having in Perth, this shoot features snow on the grounds and the crispness that winter brings. No dusty browns, muted greens or bright sunlight for this shoot!

Sarah's Real Wedding

Late last year we designed a Mantilla Veil for Sarah, a gorgeous customer of Bride + Groom. Scalloped cream and ivory lace bordered the veil, with pearls scattered throughout the lace.

Sarah very kindly dropped in some photos from her wedding which show off the veil and how beautiful she looked on the day.

We love the Mantilla Veils and have just got our hands on some new laces which we are very excited about. We'll be showcasing our new veils and a number of new designs very soon!

We are very partial to a beautiful wedding film! There are some fabulous people in the industry that have such skill in capturing the essence of the day. The ones we love are a little left of centre, not the typical wedding video, these talented people focus on using more of a fine art form.

In recording the day you have a treasured memory that captures the pure delight and joy of the day - wide smiles, laughter, holding hands + stolen kisses. The day can go by in such a flurry of movement that you don't always have the opportunity to sit back and see the whole picture.... which is where a skilled film maker comes along!

Californian based, Joel Serrato would have to be one of the finest cinematographers in the business, his Super 8 films are just exquisite. Elysium Productions also produce amazing films, in particular their film of Jessica Claire's wedding is phenomenal.

In Australia we have the very talented White Designs and Soda Films who both have a lovely story telling quality to their films, capturing the day as it naturally unfolds.

We're excited to be a part of Cathrin D'Entremont's Wedding Workshop which is to be held on 24th of March 2010. Hosted by Villa Kula, it is set to be a workshop not to be missed! Villa Kula specialises in hiring a range of exquisite luxury tents as well furniture and effects. Brides and Grooms attending the workshop will be able to see Villa Kula's beautiful work as the event will take place at their premises inside one of their amazing tents! (see picture below). The lovely Sarah from Paper + Lace Photography married her boyfriend Chris late last year. The wedding was held in Albany, WA and Sarah styled her wedding using a number of items from our store. Some of the products used included Paper Lanterns, Candy Jars, Ornate White Birdcages, Lace Parasols and White Letters spelling out LOVE.

New Dresses Instore

We're very excited to introduce Katya Bridesmaid Dresses to our store. Perth designer Karyn Koevort has put together a beautiful ready to wear collection exclusively for Bride + Groom. The range is very feminine and elegant, with an amazing colour palette to choose from. Dresses are available in either a soft silk georgette or silk satin.

The range has been made so that it is so easy for the bridesmaids to choose their dress - you simply try on the sample dresses instore, choose your size, choose your colour and we place the order for you. You can even choose different dresses but have them made in the same colour.

Katya Bridesmaid Dresses are a very complimentary fit to the beautiful Harvey + Ella Dresses that we also stock instore. We hope to hold a photoshoot soon to showcase our beautiful ranges, in the meantime here is a small taste of the Katya Collection.

To anyone who has visited our store it would come as no suprise that we love paper lanterns!!! Our shop is filled with so many different types and colours... you can be so creative with them. We have lanterns with a pretty eyelet pattern that come in white, candy pink, sunshine yellow and sea blue. We also have a range of square accordian lanterns and the popular battery operated lanterns that are just perfect for that outdoor wedding or party. Lanterns are just such a fabulous inexpensive way to decorate and you can use them time, after time. Here is just a taste of a few beautiful images using lanterns....

Pretty as a picture

A good friend of Bride + Groom is getting married in March and we were recently discussing with her the design of her bouquet and her bridesmaids. There are just so many beautiful concepts out there depending on your style and theme of the wedding. She wanted something a little different, that would fit with her ceremony that's going to be held in a pretty bush clearing/ garden setting down south.

More and more we are seeing gorgeous bouquets made up of unique combinations of berries, herbs (such as rosemary and sage), beautiful full bloom flowers and foliage like pussy-willows and olive branches. Another pretty touch is to fasten them with some vintage ribbon, or perhaps an antique brooch (your something old) or even some simple twine string.

The best thing about these bouquets is you can do them yourself!

A walk in long grass

Happy New Year to everyone. We hope you had a lovely festive period!

We thought what better way to start our 2010 blog than with a gorgeous inspiration board. We love the country glam look - overgrown paddocks meet oldworldly barns. It's a theme than looks beautiful anytime of the year - you can work in autumn leaves, beautiful fields of canola or the green, green grass that winter brings. We had trouble narrowing down what images to include, but I think you'll agree that the ones below are just beautiful! We're a particularly big fan of the jam jar idea, so much so that we have a number available in store that you can hire. They're so versatile you can display them with flowers (as pictured) or hang them from trees and fill them with candles.

We wish we had Sephora in Australia, we fell in love with this store when we visited the States last year. It is pretty much the mecca for everything beauty! You can buy your favourite frangrance, skincare, cosmetic, haircare and bath/body product or sample something entirely new! The stores are styled beautifully and the selection is just phenomenal. This is of course what you would expect from a division of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

We also love the store events at Sephora where you can meet the brands and learn about upcoming trends and fresh looks, all from the experts themselves.

Sephora unfortunately doesn't ship directly to Australia and whilst you can purchase certain products that are stocked through other online shopping sites, you miss out then on the whole experience of being a Sephora customer! It is just heaven.... we spent hours, upon hours looking through the shop not wanting to leave!

Presents Anyone?

With Christmas just around the corner, we must admit that shopping online at Urban Outfitters has gone well a little crazy! Our intent was to buy things for friends/family ... however we've also found a number of presents for ourselves. They have so many cute things... we've also found a number of romantic items that you could incorporate into your special day. We thought that the LOVE Earrings were sweet, so too the Filagree Jewellery Hook, Strawberry Lip Balm, Canvas Print 'A little bird told me', Antique Door Knob & Philosophy Grace Fragrance.

Lets face it we could just go on and on!

Sorry, couldn't quite resist including this image, it is a Waterfall Ruffle Shower Curtain. How fun! We think however, that we would be sorely tempted to use it as a backdrop or a curtain in a bedroom, rather than in the bathroom! An item this pretty needs a larger stage.

The best thing about weddings are .......they're your chance to create a fabulous day that encompasses everything you love!! More and more we are seeing amazing weddings that are perfect combinations of vintage, modern, black tie, thrifty, glamour, circus and vibrant clashing colours..... just to name a few! In the past we've struggled to find the perfect card for a wedding, engagement or birthday, however our search is now over! When looking through a copy of the recent Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine we came across an advertisement for Cymbeline Paris. Founded over 30 years ago by three sisters who wanted to revolutionise the bridal industry, Cymbeline Wedding Dresses epitomise french chic, which is not suprising when the brand was born in Nemours, France - 60km from Paris!

Here's a few chosen images from the 2010 Cymbeline Collection. We think the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Parisian streetscapes make for fabulous backdrops!!

Candy Bars

We love the concept of having a Candy Bar at a Wedding .... so we thought we'd set one up using products from our store. We had fun making the cupcakes and sourcing the yummy treats! mmm Fairy Floss!! Everything looked almost too good to eat ... but we managed! We were particulary taken with our Luxe Tassle Curtains that we used as the backdrop as well as the white letters spelling out L-O-V-E.

We've wanted to take some more photos of our Tiffany Chairs to showcase how beautiful they look for outdoor events, be it a wedding ceremony or a party! We held a photo shoot last Sunday using both the Black + White Tiffany Chairs as well as some of the gorgeous White Eyelet Lanterns that can be found in our store! It was such a beautiful, warm afternoon perfect for a wedding. We'll be sure to post some more pictures from this day soon.......
